A Touch of 2nd-Itis

Really due a bit of luck, horses are running well plenty of 2nds and 3rds with a couple being beaten in very close photo finishes, probably the one to note there is Uther Pendragon beaten by half a nostril doesn't get much closer that that! We aren't complaining too much, would be worse if down the field and being beaten but be nice to get in the Winners Enclosure. That could be next week with Birkie Boy and Go Your Own Way possible runners and both knocking on the door, Fact or Fable is in the form of his life and holds entries next week. Hieloray would only have to improve a tiny bit to feature and he too is entered next week so could be a good week ahead for Berkeley House Stables.
It has been very hot this week and looks like the weather will hold our for us tomorrow for National Racehorse Week where a lot of yards are open to the public. It is a bookable event and our yard is fully booked so much so we have had to tweak our numbers to allow more people to come and join us. Always a bit of fun and nice to meet new people, some of whom have never visited a racing yard before. So hope doesn't get too hot for them!
We had our first yearling arrive this week, a really good looking colt by Sergei Prokofiev who is a first season sire. He is a strong sort and will likely be a big horse when matured, here is where the dreams begin as they say.
Some great racing this weekend. So lots to look forward too.
